The January transfer market is moving through gears and Christian Pulisic has been doing the rounds.
The USA international has caught the eyes of various clubs across Europe. England has not been spared either, as rivals Liverpool and Chelsea are keen on the attacker. The latter has been chasing the 20-year-old since he stole the headlines with his superb rendition last season for Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea have already tabled an official bid for the star, but saw their offer knocked back. Dortmund slapped a £70 million price fee on the player and it is understood Chelsea wil fork out a fee shy of Dortmund’s mark.
But the Blues have a bigger problem as it will take more than just stumping up exactly Dortmund’s demand.
Pulisic is angling for a move out of the German outfit, but will not join Chelsea. The 20-year-old is opting to reunite with former boss Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp is known to be a long-term admirer of the youngster and he has been touted to be the “Philippe Coutinho” replacement, after the Reds attempts to sign Nabil Fekir was knocked down by a threatening health issue and Lyon’s strong refusal.
Dortmund will not knock their price fee down for the player. Pulisic has identified his destination, and it is very likely the Reds will table an offer to topple over Chelsea’s bid. Pulisic will be allowed to leave mid-season.
