Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has neared the final stages in his transfer talks to switch to French club Monaco this January.
Monaco boss Thierry Henry is keen to reunite with his former Arsenal teammate and has had him included in shortlist of targets for his midfield berth.
The French club have a tough fight over relegation this term. Monaco are 19th in the Ligue One table and could suffer a relegation to the Ligue Two if Henry can’t patch things.
The French legend has identified Fabregas as a good fit for Monaco given how much experience he has under his belt.
According to Sky Sports, the Blues are nearing a deal with the French club in a bid to seal his transfer this January and Fabregas has agreed to the move.
While Chelsea are looking to haggle over Fabregas sale with Monaco, boss Maurizio Sarri had earlier revealed that he does not want the Spaniard to leave the club.
Sarri praised the player’s technicality and admitted midfielders of his type are rare in the market, citing Jorginho as a perfect example.
He said: “In this position we have only two players, Jorginho and Fabregas, so for me it would be really a problem without Cesc.
“I want him to stay, I don’t know the final decision of Cesc and the club of course.”
Sarri has urged Chelsea to sign his replacement immediately.
