Ander Herrera will remain at Manchester United amid strong interests from former club Athletic Bilbao, this summer, say reports.
Mourinho is understood to be a keen admirer of the player, who has been praised for his strong winning mentality at the outfit.
Former club Athletic Bilbao is understood to have interests in the Spaniard.
The English transfer window slammed shut on Thursday 5pm, but the European window will tick-tock to a close on August 31.
Which means Athletic Bilbao have an ample amount of time to convince Herrera to move to Spain.
The midfielder however, has put down an approach from the La Liga outfit to secure his signature, and insists he will stay put at Old Trafford.
Ander Herrera is a dynamic player as described by football writer Liam Canning and losing him this summer should be avoided.
Herrera signed for Manchester United from Athletic Bilbao in 2014.
That same year, the 28-year-old made his first competitive debut for the Red Devils in their opening match against Swansea City which ended in a 2-1.
Herrera failed to find the back of the net until United’s 4-0 easy win over Queen Parks Rangers in September 2014.
His style of play has been compared with former United legend and talisman Paul Scholes.
The 28-year-old is expected to play fewer games this season, following the arrival of Fred, but he remains a pivotal element in Mourinho plans this season.
