Jurgen Klopp has held his own in the transfer window with the Red’s capture of Mohamed Salah from Roma and Dominic Solanke from Chelsea. However, Klopp had confirmed that he is not done in the transfer window as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season’s campaign in the EPL and Champions League.
According to the Independent, Liverpool have been handed a blow in their pursuit of RB LEIPZIG midfielder after the Club turned down another £66.4m for the player.
Keita has been in the transfer radar of Liverpool even before Mohamed Salah was signed but his German Club have stalled over Liverpool offers for him. Liverpool made an offer of £57million for the Guinea star which was rebuffed and despite their recent offer, the Bundesliga side are hell bent on keeping the midfielder.
Liverpool’s deal for Mohamed Salah sees him as the Club’s record signing but the amount offered for Keita has eclipsed the Egyptian’s.
Klopp has been on the search for creative midfield schemer that will play along Philippe Coutinho in the Reds midfield and he has identified Keita as perfect fit to match that ambition.
Confirming Liverpool’s offer for the midfielder the co-owner of RB Leipzig Dietrich Mateschitz spoke with Bild and said: “Lately we got a €75m offer for Naby Keita. No way! He has a contract and he will accomplish it.
“To sell him would not only be a proof of distrust to our fans but also the wrong sign for our players like Timo Werner, who is in demand too.”
