Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has joined PSV Eindhoven on loan till the end of the season.
The 24-year-old was brought to Stamford Bridge by former Coach Jose Mourinho from Vitesse Arnhem in a five-year deal worth £8 million in 2013.
He has just four appearances for the Blues as he has spent most of his time away on loans from the Premier League champions. He has had successful loan spells at AC Milan and Stoke, and his latest loan move makes it the fifth since he joined Chelsea.
He spent the last one and half season at PSV and will continue in the capacity at the club till the season ends. He had his first loan spell at PSV in January 2016, helping them to win the Eredivise title before returning to the club again on loan in 2017.
He has scored 15 goals and assisted another four in the Dutch League during his two spells at the PSV.
The Dutch giants issued a statement on the website to confirm the loan:
“PSV and Chelsea have reached an agreement on a transfer of Marco van Ginkel. It is a rental for the duration of a season. PSV hope to welcome the midfielder quickly in Switzerland, where he will join then in training camp”.
Van Ginkel joins the likes of Tammy Abraham, Kasey Paler, Ola Aina, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Lucas Piazon who have left Chelsea on loan ahead of the new season.
