Club agree to sell £16m Chelsea prime target amid keen interest from Jose Mourinho
Leicester City were able to unearth N’golo Kante from Ligue One side Nice and signed him for a meagre sum. Since then the player has taken the Premier League by storm but his quality far outweighs the price spent for him albeit he is now a Chelsea player.
The scouts of top European clubs have now be tasked to up their game as they search for top-notch stars. According to Sportwitness, Chelsea have been handed a massive boosted in their pursuit of Thiago Maia, as Santos have agreed to sell the player.
Maia caught the attention of the Blues and other European Clubs after he impressed for his country at the Olympic games of 2016. Santos are on the cusp of cashing in on two of their star players and Maia is top on that list.
However, Chelsea are not the only Club interested in a sealing a deal for the 20-year-old, they have Man United to contend with. United are also keen on bolstering their midfield with Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick tip for Old Trafford exit at the end of this season.
While speaking UOL, the president of Santos Modesto Roma revealed that he would not stand on the way of the transfer of some of his players. “Santos should probably sell some players, it is part of the financial planning of the club.” He said.
Despite interest from other Clubs, the Blues are in pole position to sign the impressive midfielder as his agent Giuliano Bertolucci, have a long standing relationship with Chelsea over past transfer deals.
