Brazil and Chelsea winger Willian has revealed that he is very much in contact with former boss and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho ahead of the Manchester United vs Chelsea Premier League crunch tie, according to reports.
Manchester United play host to Chelsea on Sunday but there is currently no love lost between Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte as both managers have been found taking jibes at each other when ever they face the media.
The last meeting between Man United and Chelsea was in the November of 2017 in which the Blues triumphed, following an Alvaro Morata header from Ceaser Azpilicueta’s assist.
Since then, both teams have endured poor form as they have been unable to compete with Manchester City in the title race. However, both teams are still in the Champions League and FA Cup, and there is hope that they won’t end the season without a trophy.
Willian has been enjoying a barnstorming for Chelsea lately and he is expected to be called into the action against Manchester United on Sunday. It was his goal that saved Chelsea the draw against Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Willian was linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer as he was a fringe player last season and while there is uncertainty over his future with Chelsea, he reckons that Mourinho is his friend.
“He is my friend,” Willian said on Mourinho.
“I had a great time with him, but I am at Chelsea and he is now at Manchester United.
“They are difficult games. It is totally different to play in the Premier League to the Champions League. I think we can stay at this level and we can go to Old Trafford on Sunday and play another great game.
“We have to play in a similar way. Against Manchester United, I think we can do a great job.”
