Maurizio Sarri has been asked to replace Pedro Rodriguez with Callum Hudson-Odoi in his starting XI, per reports.
Pedro has earned his place in the first team of Chelsea – he has featured in 9 of Chelsea’s 23 League matches, with 13 of them as starting cameos.
The former Barcelona star is the second top scorer for the Blues this season, with seven in the League. He is only three goals short of Hazard’s tally.
The 31-year-old Spanish star signed a new deal with Chelsea last summer that spans up to 2020.
However, former Arsenal star Martin Keown believes Hudson-Odoi, who reportedly handed a transfer request, deserves more game time than Pedro.
The England international was on the scoresheet for Chelsea in their FA Cup game against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday but he is yet to start a game for the club this season.
The 18-year-old has been subjected to several bids by Bayern Munich and he has laid bare his transfer desire to Chelsea.
“What a shame it would be if we lost Callum Hudson-Odoi from the Premier League,” Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.
“The 18-year-old has never started a top-flight game but I have no doubt that the teenager could feature regularly for Chelsea in the near future.
“Trouble is, he does not want to wait for those chances. He wants more than the occasional FA Cup outing now, and that is why it seems Chelsea may lose him to Bayern Munich in this window.
“There is nothing wrong with him wanting to play, of course, but would Bayern use him in the Bundesliga? That remains to be seen.
“Against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, he gave glimpses of what he can do and his Premier League potential.
“For me, Hudson-Odoi is already ahead of Pedro. I’d prefer to see him stay put.”
The January transfer window closes on Thursday and so much can be done before then.
