Chelsea to beat Man United to the signing of gifted technical director

FA Cup champions Chelsea will move to appoint a new technical director after a turbulent last season.

It is understood the Blues are eyeing former club heroes and title winners Michael Ballack and Juliano Belletti.

Club director Marina Granovskaia jumped in as acting head after the departure of former director Michael Emenalo.

It is understood the Nigerian’s departure has disrupted the club’s transfer dealings since January, a factor pointed by an unhappy Conte during his charge at the outfit.

Granovskaia however, looks set to give up the wheels and will appoint Emenalo’s replacement once summer business is concluded.

Roma director Monchi has joined the fray. Chelsea is understood to have in under their radar as a likely candidate for the role, but they will need to fend off interests from Manchester United who are seemingly interested in filing up that same role at Old Trafford and Monchi has emerged as their candidate.

Dan Ashworth, technical director at the FA is also in the frame too.

The Blues are offloading a handful of players who were poached to the club after Emenalo’s departure.

The Blues kicked off to stellar campaign, after trumping Huddersfield Town 3-nil at Stamford Bridge.

Sarri will face a tougher task as they welcome Arsenal on Saturday, and will hope they can add more damage to an already injured Unai Emery side.
