After his recent fall-out with his manager, England international left-back Luke Shaw could become a Chelsea player next season as Antonio Conte is reportedly interested in giving the player another opportunity to prove his quality in the Premier League.
According to the Daily Mail, the Blues who are also interested in Juventus defender Alex Sandro, are set to make a move for the England defender in the summer as they are uncertain over their chances of bringing the Brazilian defender to the Stamford Bridge.
Shaw was strongly criticised by José Mourinho in the team’s 2-0 victory over Brighton last week and that has influenced his decision to move out of Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old has been involved in just seven Premier League matches this season, starting only one since the start of the year due to his inconsistent performance which has seen him dropped to the bench by José Mourinho.
Having failed to establish himself at Old Trafford, Shaw’s chances of being in Southgate’s World Cup squad remain slender. It is yet to be seen if Chelsea would be able to pay him a £70k-a-week salary just as he is receiving at Manchester United considering his drop in form.
Southampton are also interested in re-signing their former player. The Saints are in search for a left-back ahead of next season and Pellegrino is eyeing a swoop for the defender.
