Chelsea to agree deal for €25m-rated star wanted by Tottenham

Chelsea are reportedly the favorite team to sign Ross Barkley from Everton despite interests from Tottenham Hotspur, per reports.

Antonio Conte who advised Chelsea’s board to buy new players, is an inch ahead of Mauricio Pochettino in the race for Barkley’s signature.

According to The Express, The Blues are  favorite to confirm his signature in the coming weeks. Ross Barkley has been a source of transfer rumours since the 2016-17 season. He almost joined Chelsea in the summer but the contract talks between Chelsea and Everton crashed some minutes to the end of deadline day.

Tottenham are ready to sign the 24-year-old England attacking midfielder. Mauricio Pochettino was convinced that there is a need for an attacking midfielder in his team after seeing his team lose 4-1 to Manchester City last week. He seeks to reinforce his midfield quality so as to battle against Arsenal and Liverpool for the fourth spot in the Premier League standings.

Antonio Conte wants to enlarge the size of his squad by adding another attack-minded player. Chelsea could easily get the player from Everton due to the player’s affection to play for the English Premier League Champions.

Ross Barkley joined Everton when he was he 11 years old in 2005. He made his senior debut for Everton in 2010. He has featured in 150 League matches for the Merseyside club, scoring 25 goals. He is yet to feature for the Toffees this season due to an hamstring injury.

He is valued at 25,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt.
