Croatian Filip Benkovic, 20, has been earmarked as the first official summer signing for Premier League outfit Chelsea.
According to Tutto sport via the Daily Star, the Blues are keenly interested the Dinamo Zagreb player, following his impressive performance last term for the Ukrainian outfit.
The 20-year-old’s valued in the region of 25 million pounds and has been the prime attraction from a host of other European clubs. But he’ll not be sold off cheaply, the club remarked.
Chelsea will face tough competition for the player’s services from German outfit Borussia Dortmund and fellow Premier League rival Manchester United.
Italian manager Antonio Conte is expected to leave the club soon and some player will be trimmed from the squad following his departure.
David Luiz hass been included in the list of outgoing player despite rumours that he would fight a place with the FA Cup champions.
His exit will free up space at the club and give room for a new centre-back.
Benkovic is a suitable replacement and baiting him from Dynamo will make a lucrative offer for the Blues, given the soft offer place on the player.
Meanwhile, AC Milan could knock the Blues out of the pole position for the player as Italian agent Beppe Bozzo wants to offer the centre back to the club.
