Chelsea to agree £65m deal for 40-goal in-demand striker

Chelsea are reportedly edging closer to a £65 million move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Antonio Conte is faced with attacking problems and is making efforts to resolve it before the new season starts next month. The Blues lost out on their prime target Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United and signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid has been rather difficult than expected for them.

According to the Mirror, Chelsea are now leading the race to sign Aubameyang who has also attracted interests from Liverpool. The Gabon international’s move to Stamford Bridge could see Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud move to Dortmund as his replacement.

The Mirror claim the German club have opened talks with the North London club who are demanding £65 million for him.

Marseille, Everton and West Ham are also said to be interested in the France international but he prefers a move to Dortmund.

The Premier League champions have also released Diego Costa who will return to former club Atletico Madrid but will be loaned out due to the transfer embargo on the Spanish club, which made it impossible for any player signed by the club to play until January.

With the World Cup around the corner, the Spanish striker is in search of regular football, after being told by Conte he is not part of his plans for next season. There are reports of a loan move to China till January.

Aubameyang has been prolific in the Bundesliga, scoring 40 goals for Dortmund last season.
