Chelsea to agree £25m deal for versatile in-demand attacker, Arsenal & Liverpool to miss out

Chelsea have doubled their interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and are ready to launch a bid of £25 million for the Arsenal star, reports the Express.

Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his squad before the transfer window closes and he is keen to increase the number of English players to his rank at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have lost Nemanja Matic to Man United while summer signing Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to miss the club’s first few Premier League games due to an injury he sustained while at Monaco last season.

Conte has been on the search for a wing-back and a midfielder to replace Matic, Oxlade-Chamberlain can fit in well into either role. The England international played in different positions for the Gunners last season and excelled in the wing-back role when Wenger switched to a 3-4-3 formation towards the end of last season.

However, Arsene Wenger is reluctant to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain who is also a target for Liverpool but Arsenal risk losing him for free next season. Chamberlain is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal and he has stalled over a new deal, casting his future in doubt and raising speculation over a move away from Arsenal.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 16 league starts last season but failed to hold down regular place in the team and he is reportedly interested in a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
