Chelsea are reportedly in search of a defensive midfielder in the summer to reinforce their midfield ahead of next season.
The Blues seem to have found one player whom they believe could help the team solve their midfield problems before the start of next season as they have contacted Real Madrid to enquire the availability of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro in the summer transfer window.
According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, the 25-year-old who has been an important player for the Los Blancos since he switched to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013 has been a long-time target for most European clubs, but none has been able to snatch him from Real Madrid.
Casemiro hasn’t only turned himself to an undisputed player in Zidane’s team, but he has also become one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.
The Blues have been struggling this season with most of their problems coming from the middle of the pitch as Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater who joined Chelsea from Monaco and Leicester in the summer haven’t keyed into Conte’s style of play.
As a way to avoid the same problem in the upcoming season, Antonio Conte is set to get the Brazilian who could feature alongside former Leicester City midfielder Ngolo Kante who hasn’t lived up to his billings this season.
Having sold Nemanja Matic to Manchester United before the start of the current campaign, Chelsea are yet to find a worthy replacement for the Serbian international.
Casemiro is valued at a whopping sum of £176m according to Diairo Gol which could scare off Roman Abramovich from the 25-year-old’s signature.
