Chelsea are currently reveling in the ambiance of their unexpected win over capital London rivals Tottenham Hotspur but Antonio Conte is looking to go one better in the transfer window before it is closed.
The Premier league Champions have already bolstered their squad for this campaign but Conte is yet looking to add a top-notch centre-back to his otherwise strong squad and reports have indicated that the Blues are willing to double the wages of Tottenham versatile defender Toby Alderweireld in order to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
The tough-tackling Belgian star has seen his stock risen with the Lilywhites since joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer 2015, after enjoying a barnstorming loan spell with Southampton and he continues to be one of the best centre backs in the PL.
Man United target Danny Rose had made bare his mind over being under-valued at Tottenham and his claim appears justified. Anderweireld currently earns a meager £49,000k-a-week wage and the Blues are willing to double his wages to prise him away from Tottenham, reports the Sun.
Tottenham are unwilling to sell the player but they have stalled over improving the player’s wage and this could see him tempted to move away from the club. However, he still has three years on his current contract.
Meanwhile, Chelsea signed on Antonio Rudiger from Roma this summer but they are yet looking for quality players that would make their defence impenetrable. Chelsea will play in the Champions League and other competitions but Conte’s squad is not sizable enough.
