Twelve goals in seven games for Italian side Genoa, has certainly nailed Krzysztof Piatek on the hot-list of January targets.
Touted as the “new Robert Lewandoski”, Piatek has stamped his mark as the “number one” forward in 237 Serie A players who have played at least three matches.
Clubs are flocking in their numbers to not only watch the star play on the pitch, but with strong hopes they can lure him out of Italy before the window is flung open in January, again.
La Liga winners Barcelona are in the frame for the budding Polish forward. The 23-year-old is not only closely monitored by the Catalans, but Chelsea too.
Maurizio Sarri needs to douse the drab his striker Álvaro Morata’s performance. The Spaniard after steering Chelsea to a top table finish on Thursday against Vidi, has continued to show signs of struggle on the ball.
Chelsea will have their arms folded at the moment, watching from afar until January, to see if they can pounce on the Poland international.
Piatek revealed to La Gazetta dello Sport that he could exit Genoa in January, after just playing for two and a half months in the Serie A
“Last year I was sure I would join a better league,” he told
La Gazzetta dello Sport . “Now I’ve only been here for two and a half months, and I don’t know where I’ll be in the next six.”
Currently prized at 40 million euros according to Calciomercato, that price tag is expected to rise by January if the 23-year-old continues in his fine run of form.
