Chelsea are tracking Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles as they hope to sign the England international in the summer.
According to report via Evening Standard, Jamaal has been under the Blues’ radar since the start of this month as they hope to add to the size of their defenders ahead of the upcoming season.
Evening Standard also reports that the Newcastle man is one of Chelsea’s prime targets when the summer transfer window begins due to his impressive performances for the Magpies so far this season.
The 24-year-old is a key player in Rafa Benitez’s team, and the former Real Madrid manager is hoping the player maintains his form till the end of the current campaign in order to help his team avoid being relegated by the end of the season.
Lascelles, who seems to be enjoying his career under Benitez, might be very difficult to lure away from the St James’ Park as he has so much love and respect for the coach.
With Gary Cahill and David Luiz in their 30s, Chelsea surely need a strong and young defender who will be at the club for a very long time and they believe Lascelles is the ideal player to add to the Blues backline in the summer.
Lascelles is valued at €7million per transfermarkt.
