Since returning two years ago, David Luiz has somehow regain prominence in Chelsea’s squad this new season after hints he could exit Stamford Bridge.
Luiz, sidelined for the bulk of last season under former Italian boss Antonio Conte was eager to exit Chelsea.
However the veteran defender could see his tenure extended at the Premier League outfit as Chelsea are reportedly set to tie him down.
According to the Sun, David Luiz is contracted at Chelsea until this season and the Premier League leaders are willing to offer the Brazilian international £125,000-per-week as wage to keep him.
Luiz was central to Chelsea’s 2016-17 winning Premier League season, but was knocked off the top of the pecking order by Andreas Christensen.
Luiz crashing relationship under Conte may have been puzzling to some, but new boss Sarri has remained satisfied so far. The 56-year-old believes the Brazilian has a chance of a great bounce back at Stamford Bridge.
He said: “David has a big future here — he will be very useful for us. I don’t know what happened in the past but now he has a good chance.”
Luiz packs plenty of experience and his convincing showoffs this new season may turn the tides in his favour. His applauding performance could make the Blues extend his stay beyond a year.
