Chelsea have offered Frenchman and midfield steel N’golo Kante a new 200,000-pounds-per-week deal as wages, per reports.
The 27-year-old has long been tied with a move to French top cat Paris Saint-Germain and Serie A winners Juventus.
But it appears now that the Blues want to fend off interests away from the midfield and have opened talks about extending his deal for a longer spell.
The Frenchman joined the Blues from former Premier League winner Leicester City in 2016 for a reported 32 million pounds and is contracted to thee club until 2021.
Nonetheless, Chelsea will not wait until he is prised out of their hands by big suitors and are ready to tie him down at Stamford Bridge for another five years.
It was also earlier suggested the 29-year-old would join the list of players who could leave the club if manager Antonio Conte is still at the helm of affairs.
The midfielder has been pivotal in helping the Italian win his first silverware in charge of Blues, including the FA Cup.
His roles both for the Didier Deschamps’s France currently at the World Cup in Russia and FA Cup champions Chelsea has been fluid. And he’s expected to star for Les Bleus in the World Cup final on Sunday.
Kante won the PFA player in his first spell at the west London outfit. Getting him to put pen to paper will definitely rouse excitement in the Blues camp, as he is one formidable centre they would hate to lose this summer to European rivals Paris Saint-Germain.
