Zinedine Zidane reappointment as Real Madrid’s manager in the job he dumped 10 months ago, shows that club president Florentino Pérez is raring to see the Spanish galaticos bathe in the spotlight again.
Real were dealt a painful slap when Ajax knocked them out of the Champions League at home in front of their faithful and cheering fans, a wound that is unlikely to heal soon. But the return of Zidane has raised hopes inside the outfit.
It is understood the French legend is keen on making a complete revamp of the side. And he has been given many nods from Real hierarchy to pan out his shelved plans.
Already, the Spanish side have made contacts with their Premier League counterparts Chelsea as interest in signing playmaker Eden Hazard has re-emerged. While that could be troubling for Chelsea who have hugely depended on his talismanic qualities on the pitch, the Blues face an even greater threat of losing midfield enforcer N’golo Kante.
It comes as rather shocking though, but Zidane has been handed a rumoured hefty sum north of £300m to splurge in the summer.
With that at the back of his mind, Kante is said to be on his shortlist of targets he wishes to bring in in the summer. It is unlikely Chelsea will flog the star. The 27-year-old has proven he can be versatile which makes him totally indispensable.
