Chelsea record signing Alvaro Morata has failed to step up the plate at Chelsea and could be used as a leverage in getting Maurizio Sarri’s hitman at Napoli, Gonzalo Higuain.
Higuain was the meat of forward options discussed in January that Chelsea were hopeful to land. And it looks like the deal could come through for Chelsea.
Chelsea are willing to offer flop Alvaro Morata to AC Milan in an attempt to bring over Higuain.
The Argentine striker’s future at the San Siro has been blighted by lack of goals and could see him benched in future games.
Higuain wants a move to Chelsea, it is understood, reports the Sun. The player is keen to reunite with Sarri who succeeded in helping him carve his name on football’s wall of fame, going down as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, particularly in the Serie A.
Sarri, this term had chosen to play Eden Hazard up front as a false nine and had admitted he was contented with the outcome, since he didn’t trust Morata to deliver.
The Italian is readying to drop Morata and his move out to join AC Milan, after failing to light up the club, will see the arrival of the former Napoli man to Chelsea this month.
Chelsea should have nailed the deal for Higuain in the summer, but the star opted to remain in Italy after revealing the interest in his services from the London outfit were too slim.
