Chelsea have panned out plans to sign Dortmund star Christian Pulisic in January.
Reports milling around claim the Blues had met with the German outfit on Friday to argue down the player fees.
Chelsea have already tabled a bid, though undisclosed, it is understood Dortmund knock backed their offers.
Chelsea wanted the deal sealed before January. The Blues were aware of suitors waiting to nab the star in January, as they were keen on leapfrogging their competitors, however Dortmund looked like they’ll not water down his price fee.
The German outfit have slapped a £70m fee on Pulisic and are determined to hold off his transfer until the end of the Bundesliga season, if suitors can’t cough up his price fee.
Pulisic has 18 months left on his contract and has strongly refused to sign more years on his current deal.
The USA international has stated his desire to play in the Premier League and playing for the Blues could turn that into a reality.
He is set to get a bumper package should he join Chelsea. A first team experience is already on the cards for him at the club as the Blues are willing to chop off their aging frontline when the transfer window is flung open.
