Chelsea join Man United in race for the signature of prolific French star

The summer transfer window is yet months away but it looks as though the top Premier League clubs are going to take their rivalry off the pitch as they slug it out for the signature of same transfer target.

Manchester United have been joined by City rivals Manchester City and League rivals Chelsea in the chase of France born versatile attacker Antoine Greizmann, reports Skysports.

Griezmann has been in the transfer radar of the Red Devils but the French man had reiterated his commitment to the Rojiblancos but admitted that he would consider his lacing his boots for another club sometime in the future.

Griezmann continued to be a stand-out performer under Diego Simeone despite the indifferent form experienced by the Vicente Calderon outfits this term in the La Liga. He’s scored 25 goals for A. Madrid in all competitions and he’s wanted a host of clubs as claimed by scout Eric Olhats.

Olhats who doubles as the striker’s advisor confirms interest in the players with claims that offers for the prolific attacker will be considered.

“We’re at the stage of gathering information from clubs who have a concrete interest,” he told French TV show Telefoot.

“There is an unavoidable 100m clause so that restricts the number of candidates. You have United, City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“United were the first to come and see us and the most concrete in their wishes.”

United are expecting the exit of some key players. Wayne Rooney among other stars like Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick are tipped to leave during the summer but Griezmann has been dubbed as an ideal replacement for the outgoing United Captain. Mourinho will be left with no choice than to bolster his squad during the summer, Griezmann is understood to be top priority for the Portuguese tactician.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are five wins away from clinching the League but the potency of their attack means even if they sign an attacker, he may not break into the Blues’ first team. However, another edge United have over Chelsea and City in the chase of the player is the presence of Paul Pogba, who is close pal with Greizmann.

Greizmann has a release clause of £84m.
