Former Chelsea star Pat Nevin has revealed that the size of Chelsea’s squad presents a massive advantage over the likes of Liverpool.
The Blues like Manchester City and Liverpool are yet to lose a game this term even though they went late into the transfer window and signed only two players.
Cesc Fabregas, Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic, Victor Moses and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have all be played sparingly by Sarri but the Blues are thriving, nonetheless.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are in contention for the League this term, with their form attributed to the number of signings made by Jurgen Klopp. Xherdan Shaqiri is about the marquee signing for the Reds in the summer but they will be without him with they travel to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade.
And now, Nevin has claimed that the absence of the Swiss winger reveals how thin the squad of Liverpool is.
“What is noticeable is that with Xherdan Shaqiri not travelling, suddenly Liverpool look to have a much more sparse squad than I had thought,” Nevin wrote in his column for Chelsea’s official website.
“If you consider how many changes they can afford to make in their European tie compared with how many Chelsea will make in a couple of days it really is an eye-opener.
“Of course the circumstances and the competition will have an effect, but the size and quality of our squad is the envy of everyone right now, other than Manchester City of course.
