Chelsea enter race to sign Man United prime target as club okays player sale

Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race for the signature of France and Monaco central midfielder Tiemoue Babayoko, this is according to the Metro.

Babayoko, 22, joined Ligue one side Monaco from Rennes in 2014 but he is currently enjoying his career’s best season with series of impressive cameos under Leonardo Jardim. Babayo has helped his team qualify for a spot in the semi-final of the prestigious Champions League while they occupy the top spot of the Ligue one table.

He has featured in 29 League games for Monaco this term but Man United had their scouts watched him last month according to this report. Mourinho has struggled to find the right balance in midfield but it is believed that Babayoko and Pogba will form and impenetrable partnership in the Red Devils midfield.

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte is currently in the running for the double with Chelsea despite being his debut season. The Italian tactician wants to improve upon the current team he has which sees a thin midfield option, and Babayoko has been lined up as a transfer prime target for the Blues.

Following keen interest in the midfielder, it is understood that the proprietors of Monaco are resigned to allowing him leave, claims Le 10 Sport. He is currently worth 7.5m euros according to transfermarkt.
