Chelsea will play in the Champions League next season and other domestic competitions – this has seen Chelsea manager Antonio Conte looking for players to add to the rank of his squad.
Having signed on Willy Cabellero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata, Chelsea have entered the race to sign want-away Everton attacking midfielder Ross Barkley, according to report.
Conte has been left frustrated in his pursuit for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Danny Drinkwater and he is poised to bolster his squad with English players. The Blues are now looking to take advantage of the situation of Barkley and lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Barkey is in the final year of his current contract with the Toffees and he has stalled over new contract with the Club. Koeman reckons that the player will be allowed to leave this term but only if the offer for him is right.
Tottenham and Arsenal have been credited with interested for the 23-year-old, but Liverpoolecho claims the Premier League Champions Chelsea have emerged as favorite for Barkley’s signature. Liverpool are understood to be willing to pay up to £20m for the midfielder but the Toffees are holding out for £50million.
Chelsea have allowed Nemanja Matic to leave the Club this summer and if they are unable to sign Chamberlain, Barkley could be a huge alternative given his pedigree for Everton. However, the player is likely to play second fiddle at the Club as he may not be able to dislodge the likes of Bakayoko and Fabregas in midfield.
