Chelsea have clinched the Premier League title and they might secure a double if they beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final game at Wembley on the 27th of May.
Despite the relative success enjoyed by the Club this term, the Blues’ boss Antoine Conte have an eye in the coming transfer window as he looks to continue his rebuilding effort and bolster his otherwise strong squad.
According to latest report by the Sun, Chelsea have offered a whopping £55 million bid for Italian and Paris saint Germain midfielder Marco Verratti, as he looks to link up with his former Azzurri’s star.
Since the departure of Laurent Blanc from Parc des Princes, PSG have not been very competitive. They lost the League to AS Monaco and have most of their players appear in the transfer radar of top European Clubs.’
Chelsea have been linked with Monaco’s Bakayoko but the report claims it is Verrati, along Kante, that can provide the needed midfield creativity wanted by Conte. The 24-year-old was a first team squad member for Italy under the watch of Conte.
PSG are willing to listen to offers for the star midfielder and the Blues are understood to be willing to match his asking price. He currently earns £120k-a-week but his wage will be increased if he completes a deal with Chelsea.
Verratti was also linked with a move to the Gunners. Arsenal’s midfielders are prone to injuries and the long absence of Santi Cazorla means they must sign a replacement for him. Verratti may prefer a move to Chelsea because of Champions League football and the presence of his compatriot as coach.
