According to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is ready to battle interested clubs in order to bring Spanish midfielder Suso from AC Milan in January.
The London club boss has told Chelsea directors to start readying a bid for the former Liverpool attacker as the winter window draws nearer.
The report noted that Chelsea will face stern competition from La Liga giant and Europa League winners Atletico Madrid for the player’s signature following his impressive start to the 2018/19 Serie A season.
It is no surprise that Chelsea are trailing Suso’s signature. The Blues manager had faced the AC Milan attacker during his stint as Napoli coach. The 24 year old is well aware of what it takes to be a success in the English Premier League having turned out for Liverpool in a previous stint in England.
Suso left Anfield in the summer of 2015 declining a contract extension offer from the Merseyside club. Rather, the attacker signed a four year deal with AC Milan with the Italian club paying €1.3m as compensation to Liverpool.
Many supporters of the Merseyside club were left disappointed following the Spaniard’s exodus having witnessed first-hand the capabilities and talents he had within him.
