Chelsea agree deal for Antonio Conte’s replacement – announcement ‘within days’

It is now a matter of when and not if Antonio Conte would be replaced by his compatriot Maurizio Sarri as the next manager of Chelsea. There are rife reports in Italy that Chelsea already have an agreement in place with Sarri.

Conte clinched the Premier League title in his debut season with the Blues but his second season was nothing to remember. Albeit he won the FA Cup but his failure to lead Chelsea to Champions league qualification was said to be his undoing.

Conte has never failed to blame the lack of quality players for his predicament – he also tongue-lashed the top brass of the Blues for the calibre of players they signed for him and it is said that the principal of club Roman Abramovich was displeased with former Juventus manager.

Chelsea had other candidate like Larent Blanc, and Luis Enrique are possible replacement for Conte but while Sarri was favourites for the job, his £8million release clause stood in the way of the deal. However, Calciomercato via the Express have reported that the Blues are landing Sarri within days.

Conte is currently on holidays but he will take home £9million as severance allowance as he has a year left on his current contract.

Some players of Chelsea have called on the club to resolve the managerial issues and go on with the signing of new players.
