Chelsea conquest of the Premier League was achieved by a thin squad but Antonio Conte is looking to bolster the rank of his squad ahead of next season’s campaign.
The Premier League Champions are closing in on deal for their long term transfer prime target Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to report.
Bakayoko emerged as a transfer prime target for Chelsea since the close of last season and Chelsea are willing to fork out as much as £35million ($44million) to get the midfielder to put pen to paper on a deal for them.
Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte sees Bakayoko as the ideal midfield partner for N’golo Kante and it is believed that the 22-year-old would add a bit of creativity and dynamism to midfield setup of the Blues.
The arrival of Bakayoko to Stamford Bridge would inadvertently see Nemanja Matic lost his place in the midfield. Hence, his move to Man United as he looks to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho may just be on the offing too.
It was Jose Mourinho that lured Matic to Chelsea from Benfica in the summer of 2014 and the Portuguese tactician is still a fan of the tough-tackling midfielder.
Mourinho has a squad that has a mixture of youth and aged footballers. Matic is expected to replace Michael Carrick on the long term.
