Thomas Tuchel agrees deal to replace Antonio Conte, Arsenal misses out

There is so much speculation surrounding the future of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger – pundits and fans have tipped the French manager to call time on his enviable career but there no telling how his future will pan out.

While we are left in the dark over the manager’s career with Arsenal, several names have been thrown into the fray as possible replacement for the French tactician including former Borrussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel. However, the Gunners may have to beam their search light in other direction as reports have indicated that the Germany manager has signed a deal with a club other than Arsenal, with Chelsea suspected to be his next footballing stop.

Bayern Munich have been in the search of a manager that will take over the baton from Jupp Heynckes and their approach to agree a deal with Tuchel ended up being futile – this is the claim of Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who said the former Borrussia Dortmund manager informed him that he’s already committed himself to another club.

“Our sports director, Hasan Salihamidzic, has been in talks with coaches (to succeed Jupp Heynckes), and Tuchel was among them,” Rummenigge said at the weekend. “He let us know he already signed with another club, but that’s not a problem for us.”

Wenger’s continuous cling on to power at Arsenal is the stumbling block to Tuchel making a move the Emirates. “All the indications in Germany, in London, is that he’s not going to Arsenal for the very simple reason that Arsenal have a coach who is not leaving,” Raphael Honigstein told the BBC.

Honigstein claimed that Tuchel has agreed to join Chelsea when he spoke on Totally Football podcast, [Tuchel] left a message with Bayern Munich saying ‘Thanks for your interest, but I’m off. I’ve done a deal. I’ve promised someone that I’m going [to them].’”

“I have it on pretty good authority that Tuchel made a very good impression on [Chelsea director] Marina Granovskaia in a meeting they’ve had [but] I don’t know how recent that meeting was.”

Arsene Wenger is expected to quit Arsenal at the end of this season but it appears that will not be happening, rather Antonio Conte will be exiting Stamford Bridge.
