Celta Vigo play host to Manchester United in the Europa Cup semi-final first leg game this Thursday.
Jose Mourinho is in a huge injury crisis, sweating over the fitness of most of his defenders and key midfielders. Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are all sidelined with various injuries and are not expected to make the trip to Spain with the team.
The absence of the aforementioned injured players will pose a selection dilemma for Jose Mourinho, whose team has struggled in their last two Premier League games. The Red Devils remained in fifth position on the Premier League log making their chances for Champions League qualification via the League bleak.
Meanwhile Celta Vigo have been worse off in the La Liga, having lost their last three matches, they may struggle. United have the physiological edge over them and should exude more confidence as favourites to clinch the title. The winner of the Europa Cup gain qualification for Champions League, which is the minimum target that has been set by Jose Mourinho for himself.
The team may not be too different from the one that played Swansea last weekend. Marouane Fellaini is expected back in the squad having served suspension in the EPL, he’ll partner Herrera and Pogba in the middle of the pack.
We are likely to see the most unconventional back four lined-up. Darmian, Young and Blind and Valencia are the most likely selection for the game. However, there are few options in the midfield. Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata are fit and in contention for a place, they may be handed game time at some point in the game.
