Boost for Chelsea as Liverpool target is on the verge of signing long-term contract
What is termed a huge blow for Liverpool is being said to be a boost for runaway League leaders Chelsea, after reports circulated by Marca via Sportwitness reveals that Spanish midfielder and the Reds target Isco is on the verge of committing his future to Los Blancos.
Liverpool are uncertain of the future of Philippe Coutinho, who is being touted to move to the Camp Nou in the summer, as earlier reported by the Metro. Being a proactive manager, klopp has tabbed Isco as a like-for-like replacement for Coutinho and he’s being lined up as a transfer prime target for the Reds.
Meanwhile, Isco’s decision to snub a move to Anfield now means Real Madrid would have no need to sign Hazard who has been lined up for a big money move also because Asensio has shown prospect. This report has come as a one that is cheering for Antonio Conte as he continues to build his attack on the Belgian.
Isco, 25, has struggled to break into the first team of Zinedine Zidane despite having a good goal scoring record from the midfield. This term, he has featured in 26 La Liga games for the Santiago Bernabeu outfit but 11 of them are from the bench – yet, he’s netted nine goals and have 5 assists in the La Liga.
Report by the Marca stated that the new deal will elapse in 2022. He is expected to fight for a place in the otherwise star studded midfield of Real Madrid. Nonetheless, Modric is surpassing the twilight of his career, it might not be too long before Isco starts commanding a regular starting shirt. He has to be a bit patient i guess.
Liverpool have endured a torrid season but their problem has been less of a midfield’s. Albeit Isco will stay put at Madrid, Klopp may have to brighten his search light for quality transfer targets elsewhere.
