Manchester United are set to do one of their bitter rivals Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
It is now reported that Manchester United are now ahead in the chase for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. This comes as a shock since it is Chelsea who have been heavily linked with the striker ahead of a possible return to the Stamford Bridge.
However, sources from England now claim that the Belgium international’s camp actually prefer a move to Old Trafford rather than sign a deal with Antonio Conte’s side; the club he had left in the summer of 2014 on a permanent deal.
Chelsea are in need of a striker since the future of Diego Costa still hangs by a thread, hence a move for Lukaku is on the cards. It is their antecedents to sign players they sold, as the likes of Matic and David Luiz have all returned to the Stamford Bridge after a permanent switch from the club.
It is quite time to hand Chelsea a dose of their pill, and what revenge could that be since there is a dearth of quality strikers available in the transfer market.
Although United are reportedly on the verge of completing Morata’s transfer, they could yet be interested in Lukaku since Rooney is set for an exit later this week.
United are also strongly linked with Inter Milan’s forward Ivan Perisic.
Lukaku is valued at £100million by the Toffees.
