Bayern Munich enter race to sign Liverpool’s transfer target

Liverpool have been known for their pragmatic nature in the transfer window but this time around they will have Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich to contend with for the signature of 19-year-old Bayer Leverkusen winger Julian Brandt, reports Daily Star.

Since taking over the helms of Liverpool’s affair in the summer of 2015, Jurgen Klopp’s team has been inconsistent. he has failed to qualify for the Champions League which is the least expectation of the proprietors of the Reds. Although, the club is currently basking in the ambiance of a better form than last season, as they currently seat in fourth position on the EPL log, the need for Klopp to bolster his attack is apparent.

Brandt, 19 started his career with his native club SC Borgfeld before signing for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in the January of 2014. Given his stellar performances for club, Liverpool have had their scouts watching him but another report by the Mirror indicated that the Bavarain club Bayern Munich wants the youngster to lace his boots for them too.

Klopp has been a staunch admirer of the player as he is looking to bring the German to Anfield next summer.

Brandt has featured regularly for his club this term – he’s had up to 17 Bundesliga appearances, scoring two goals and providing six assist, which presents a good stats for a youngster. Should he sign for Liverpool, he will not just bolster the attack of Liverpool, he will provide a good option to players like Lallana, Origi and Firmino.

He is currently valued at £20m.
