Anthony Martial’s agent has laid bare his unhappiness over Man United negotiation for a new contract for his client, casting doubt on the future of the French winger.
Martial entered the final year of his contract with Man United this season but the club triggered the one year extension clause his deal, which means he will be at the club until 2020.
The French winger was said to be unhappy with Jose Mourinho at the start of the season and his agent had confirmed that he wanted out of the club. However, Man United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward likes the player and wants him to stay put at the club.
Although talks have been ongoing between the representative of Martial and Man United, no breakthrough has been reached, with his agent Philippe Lamboley hinting the player could leave the club.
“I am very pessimistic about discussions going positively,” he told RMC.
They’ve already made several offers that come nowhere near to what we expect.”
Arsenal and Tottenham have been linked with a move for the winger but there is no telling if he’d sold to any of the aforementioned clubs.
Man United have started the season poorly, with Jose Mourinho having issues with most of his top-class players.
Martial is very young and United must do all they can to keep the player.
