A source close to Arsene Wenger has disclosed the manager’s displeasure over the fitness concern of Alexis Sanchez.
The 27-year-old is currently on an extended holiday after his involvement in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in which they lost in the finals to Germany by a lone goal. However, the forward is still recuperating from a swollen ankle.
“Alexis’ desire to always play for Chile – even when he’s not fully fit – is a real worry for the manager,”said a source recently [via Starsport].
Sanchez’s injury has raised an alarm at the club and it now reported by the Dailystar that Wenger may consider selling him to any interested club who are ready to match Arsenal’s valuation of the forward.
Sanchez’s case is quite peculiar since he has less than a year to run on his current contract, and has refused to sign a contract extension which would have him at the club beyond the summer of 2018. Arsenal have a battle on their hands to convince him to sign the contract onn the table, but are also willing to offload him in a bid to recoup a chunk of the £35m spent on him three summers ago.
The Chile international has stated that he would reveal his plans after the Confederations Cup. However, he still remains mum on it. Fresh reports suggest that Manchester City are set to bid for him as Pep Guardiola is keen on reuniting with Sanchez at the Etihad stadium.
