There is growing concern of what becomes of Arsenal if Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil fail to extend their contracts with the club as the January transfer window approaches. Nonetheless, Arsene Wenger may have revealed that the Chilean star would stay put at Arsenal beyond the January transfer window, this is according to report.
Sanchez will be out of contract at Arsenal next summer and if he fails to extend his contract with the Gunners, he will walk away from the club as a free agent. He has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint German and Arsenal capital rival Manchester City but Wenger reckons that the Citizens do not need another striker is in the form of Alexis Sanchez.
Wenger spoke with Goal before the Gunners defeat to Manchester City on Sunday and he was quizzed about the future of the Chilean. He responded as thus: “I expect him to be motivated against City but that is always the case. One thing you cannot fault in Alexis Sanchez is his motivation. When he plays for Chile, he plays with passion that is in South America. You say everybody thinks City will come in for Alexis – I am part of everybody and I don’t think he will go. Do City need him? They have to decide that, but we need him here…”
There were postulations and theories that Sanchez would try to impress his former manager Pep Guardiola last Sunday and he was eventually being criticised for failing to turn up in the game as he could not complete his passes.
While the exit of Sanchez may be inevitable at the end of this season, Arsene Wenger is responsible for the predicament of the club that we see on the pitch. He buys the players, trains them and motivates them to be the best they can be.
