Arsenal to agree deal for midfield maestro, £18m bid tabled

Andre Gomes be the Gunners latest signing after reports from Spain reveal Barcelona wants the deal done before the close of the week.

Although Unai Emery has significantly bolstered the squad of the Gunners, he is still on the lookout for a creative midfielder and he has been heavily linked with a move for Gomes.

The Portuguese midfielder joined Barcelona in the summer of 2016 but he has to stake a claim in the first team of the Camp Nou outfit. The signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona in the January transfer window further affected his place in the squad of the La Liga outfit and they want to put him out of his misery after sanctioning his transfer.

According to the Express who cited a report from Catalan newspaper Sport, Barcelona wants the 24-year-old star off their books before the close of this week.

Emery revealed last week that the Gunners are still on the look out for an exception signing.

“We signed the players who we needed and only if one player is a big opportunity for us will we sign them.

“At the moment, I think the squad is complete.

“We will only sign another player if there is an opportunity to bring in that one player, or two players.”

The report claims that the Gunners have already tabled a £18million bid for the star and they are unwilling to improve on the offer.

Arsenal are still in talks with Barcelona for the player and it is hoped the player’s future will be resolved.
