Arsenal schedule medical for 24-goal striker after star agrees personal terms

Arsenal failed win the Premier League trophy for the 13th season on the trot and even ended outside the top four of the Premier League, hence did not qualify  for the Champions League competition of next season. This leaves Arsene Wenger blameworthy for the shortfalls of the Gunners.

In a bid to redeem his image and bring back the glory days for Arsenal, Arsene Wenger is expected to be more pragmatic in the transfer market when it will be swung open on the first day of next month. Arsenal have already been linked with a couple of star players.

There are indications that Arsenal are on the cusp of securing a deal for KAS Eupen striker Henry Onyekuru, after the player confirmed an offer for him by the Gunners, reports ESPN.

The 19-year-old forward emerged as a surprise target for the Gunners last month as claimed by Skysports, who stated in their report that Arsenal triggered the goal poacher’s  £6.8m release clause. However, he has now agreed personal terms with a £38,000-a-week wage deal, per FootballLondon.

Confirming Arsenal’s bid for him, a visibly excited Onyekuru said:

“It’s a good feeling for a club like Arsenal [to] come to make an offer for me — this is due to my hard work in training and games. It’s a good feeling,”

“I am waiting and working towards it and we’ll see how it goes after the [Nigeria] qualifiers.”

“Thierry Henry has always been my idol since I was a kid. I love watching him play, watching Arsenal and going to YouTube to watch most of his games.

“I remember saying if I had to move to the Premier League I want to be like Thierry Henry, so it’s like a dream come true and I’m looking towards it at the moment.”

Onyekuru ended last season as top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler League but his quality and experience may not be what most Arsenal fans have yearned for. No doubt, he is a super talent as justified by his 24-league goals but can he make an instant impact? i don’t believe that.
