A fully fit squad can suddenly suffer a relapse due to injury and fatigue to the players, as that has always been the case with Arsenal but it looks as though Arsenal Wenger is making adequate plans to avoid the recurrent gaffe that has banjaxed his team for over 10 years.
Santi Cazorla is on the odd side of 30 and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is rumoured to be set for a Chelsea switch. As a result, Arsenal are reported to be eyeing Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente. Spanish News outlet, AS reports that the Gunners are monitoring the 22-year-old in view of recruiting him into their ranks.
It is also reported that Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of the defensive midfielder and his resolve is not dampened by the advances from the likes of Chelsea, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid for the player whose contract with Madrid expires in the summer of 2018.
Chelsea desire to add a midfielder stems from their sale of Nemanja Matic but they are looking to add more players to their squad before the close of the window.
Llorente though predominantly a DM can operate centrally as a defender and in the midfield as well. This puts him in good stead for any team that manages to sign him as the quality of any player from Madrid is not in doubt. Arsenal have the likes of Laurent Koscielny and Mertesacker in their 30’s, also Gabriel Paulista’s £10 million switch to Valenciaa leaves the void in the defence hence signing Llorente won’t be tagged a bad move after all.
According to transfermarkt, he’s valued at 15,00 Mill. €
