What is bad news for Paris Saint Germain has served as a soothing news for Premier League clubs. According to emerging reports, PSG have confirmed the imminent departure of Adrien Rabiot.
Rabiot has knocked back contract offers from PSG for some time now, and his existing contract will expire at the end of this season.
Since his unprecedented rise at Parc des Prince, he has attracted interest from the Premier League up until last summer. Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Antero Henrique has laid bare his anger and disappointment over the demeanor of the player and his representative.
Henrique spoke with Yahoo Sports and he was quizzed on whether there is a breakthrough in talks for the player’s deal.
“At this point, no. It was a decision made by the club following a meeting I had with the player.
“The player informed me that he would not sign a contract and that he wanted to leave the club by being free at the end of the season.
“For the player, this will have a very clear consequence: he will remain on the bench for an indefinite period.”
The director further added that PSG have been misled by the player and his rep.
“It seems that the player and his representative have misled us for several months.
“I must add that this situation is disrespectful for both the club and the fans.
“Especially from a player who has played under our colours from the academy to the first team and a player who has always received the full support of the club.”
Rabiot was firmly on the transfer radar of Arsenal during the days of Arsene Wenger. There is no telling if the club will now realise their dream of signing the footballer.
Goal adds that Tottenham and Liverpool have also been monitoring the situation of the player. He could be allow to leave in January for a cut-price instead of allowing him to leave as a free agent next summer.
