Arsenal were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by goals from Tottenham’s Son Heung-min and Dele Allí on Wednesday night.
The Gunners showed streaks of their former selves under former boss Wenger and failed to threaten at the front, despite pipping the local rivals weeks back on the same ground.
Unai Emery wants to bring in reinforcements in January and is already eyeing a move for long-term interest Cristian Pavón.
The Boca junior star will cost the Gunners 40 million pounds who could stop the chase for Roma’s Cengiz Ünder and pursue Pavón instead.
According to The Sun, it is said that contact has already been made between Arsenal and the Argentine outfit.
Basement boys Fulham have also been credited with interest in the star who broke into stardom in 2014.
Fulham need rescuing and Pavón could be their saviour. Even better, he is going to enjoy plenty of game time at the Cottagers should he veer away from London.
But if Arsenal should catch him before they do, he could be the next Andrey Ashavin.
He is a fine dribbler and has a very keen eye for goals just like the former Gunner.
