Arsenal manager Unai Emery has revealed tipped Eddie Nketiah to replace Danny Welbeck for the now,per reports.
Welbeck sustained a horrible injury during the Gunners Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon, and it is widely claimed that he would miss the rest of the season.
He landed badly after contesting a header and broke the ankle of his right leg. Reports have indicated that he has successfully underwent surgery but there is no telling how soon he will return to the round leather game.
Arsenal were heavily involved in the January transfer window but they failed to sign any attacker. Nonetheless, they could be forced to go into the January transfer window for a winger.
Nicolas Pepe of Lille has been lately linked with a move to Arsenal but the Gunners manager has claimed he is looking inward to replacement Welbeck.
‘The first [choice] is to look inside, and we have one striker also who is working well with the under-23s and is improving also, Eddie Nketiah, and he could have chances,’ Emery said.
‘But I think it’s early for speaking about the possibility [of signings] in January.’
Nketiah has been a bit-part player for the Gunners since that the start of the season but he will get his chance soon.
Welbeck will run down his contract for Arsenal at the end of the season and following his injury, he may not be offered the chance to extend his deal.
