London based Arsenal have been linked to former Manchester City forward Mario Balotelli, reports revealed.
The former Liverpool frontman has enjoyed a good comeback this season, including finding his old flame, netting 26 goals in all competitions.
The Italian attacker has been eyed by other clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Marseille. Following his elegant performance in the last two seasons in France, Balotelli was called back to first team action after a four-year absence from the international scene.
The Azzurris, under new boss Robert Mancini, handed Balotelli his first start for Italy since their 2014 World Cup defeat to Uruguay.
According to La Gazettadello Sport via the Mirror, it claimed Arsenal are favourites to land him following his comments back in 2016.”[If I go back to England] it would not be to Liverpool,” he said.
The forward admitted he wouldn’t consider returning to Liverpool but a return to Manchester City is a promising deal and Arsenal would be his second choice.
“Because I found myself [performing] very bad in Liverpool. I said the team was good and the fans are amazing, but I would never go back to Liverpool.
“The first one I think in England is Manchester City, and the second team I always like is Arsenal.” That doesn’t mean I’ll go to play there. I just like them.”
Balotelli is valued at 22,00 Mill. € according to transfermarkt but Arsenal are not in need of a striker.
