Arsenal haven’t swept away speculations linking them with a move for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill.
The England international has been frozen out of Maurizio Sarri’s squad since the Italian succeeded Antonio Conte in the summer.
Cahill was spotted posing a forlorn figure at the Blues camp and is discontented with the wave offs he has been getting from Sarri.
The Italian coach revealed he won’t stop the Englishman from leaving the club. Cahill appears to have no future at Chelsea despite making appearances under Conte just last campaign.
Local rivals Arsenal have been credited with a move to sign the decorated defender in recent weeks. The Gunners have been hit by severe knocks this campaign and boss Unai Emery wants to patch things quickly in his backline.
Cahill fits the bill and Emery believes he can deliver the goods at the Emirates.
It is said that talks to sign Cahill have rambled on for weeks, although there has been no recorded information stating the Gunners have tabled an official bid for Cahill.
Arsenal is eager to get the deal done and dusted on New Year day and, now at 7/4, bookmakers have tipped the Englishman to join Gunners in January. Not only is Sarri keen on offloading the star, the Italian is eyeing a move to get an upgrade too.
