Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have reportedly made an official approach to complete the transfer of Bordeaux youngster Malcom who has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League.
According to the Guardian, the Gunners were interested in his signature during last month’s transfer window, but they were unable to reach an agreement with the Ligue 1 side. Having failed to convince Bordeaux to let go of the youngster, they turned their attention to Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan whom they successfully signed before the close of the winter transfer market.
Having seen Arsenal lose to Manchester City in a ‘disgraceful way’ according to Gary Neville, it became obvious that the Gunners need to upgrade their attacking prowess and equally, the defense needs an urgent attention before the start of next season.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has been impressive so far this season having scored eight goals and six assists in all competitions. His performance for Bordeaux has endeared him to European top clubs with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham all showing their interest to compete for the brilliant youngster.
After selling Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembele to Arsenal and Barcelona respectively, Dortmund are set to find worthy replacements for both players, and they believe Malcom will surely make a great impact should he join them in the summer.
The £50m-rated attacking midfielder is also being tracked by Tottenham and the North London club are set to rival Arsenal for the youngster as they hope to limit their over-reliance on Harry Kane who has been brilliant for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this term.
