Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly set to join Liverpool in the race for Watford’s 25-year-old midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure who has been a standout performer in the Hornets team this season despite their poor run of results in the second half of the season.
The Mirror reports that Manchester United manager José Mourinho is happy with the player’s display at the middle of the park for Watford and he hopes to lure him to Old Trafford in the summer. United are in search of Michael Carrick’s replacement and the midfielder could be the best player to occupy the vacuum that will be created due to the Englishman’s retirement in the summer.
Arsenal’s season has been one to forget due to the team’s poor performance at the back and the middle of the pitch. Wenger brought Aubameyang and Mktarryan to the Emirates Stadium to reinforce his attacking threat, but the center midfield position lacks quality.
With speculations linking Jack Wilshere with a move away from the North London club, Wenger is considering a move for the 25-year-old midfielder whose dynamism and athleticism seems to be lacking in Wenger’s team this season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has earlier shown his desire to work with Doucoure in the summer as he hopes to build on his team’s success in the middle of the pitch next season. The German manager is also being linked with Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
