Arsenal battle Chelsea for £70m-rated striker to replace Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal have entered the race for the signature of Chelsea target and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, reports the Express..

Morata is currently unsettled at the Santiago Bernabeu following the lack of game time and he has been a subject of heavy transfer speculation from Manchester United before they opted to signed Romelu Lukaku from Everton in a world Record deal.

Jose Mourinho had reported called Alvaro Morata to inform him that he’ll be the man the lead the attack of Man United in the upcoming season but Chelsea were understood to be keenly interested too, though they had Lukaku as their prime target.

Chelsea’s plan was eventually rocked when Man United signed Lukaku, leaving them to with Alvaro Morata as the choice to replace the outgoing Diego Costa – Costa fell out with Antonio Conte and the striker is closed to sealing a move to his former Club Atletico Madrid.

With Arsene Wenger widely criticised for the shambolic outing of Arsenal last season, the French tactician has already bolstered his squad with the signing of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac but the recent submission over Alexis Sanchez has left Wenger in a dire situation.

Sanchez reckons that he want to play and win the Champions League, a feat he obviously would not be able to achieve with Arsene Wenger at Arsenal’s helms.

Spanish media outlet Don Balon claims that Arsenal have turned their attention to Alvaro Morata as a probable replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal will compete with Chelsea for his signature but the Gunners will use the money they recoup from the sale of Alexis Sanchez to fund the signing of Morata, according to the report.

Morata is valued at £70million by Los Blancos.
